Supporting the Health of the Gut Microbiome to Change Hormone Health

Print 🖨
Gut Micobiome to support Hormonal Health is taking place at the wonderful Massingham Manor

Is the topic for our next date at Beautiful Little Massingham Manor on 23rd August 10am – 4pm (FULLY BOOKED)

A healthy Gut Microbiome represents an exciting way forward to support hormonal health.
Imbalances in oestrogen can affect the balance of microbes in the Gut and some microbes have the ability to change oestrogens into toxic forms. Gut microbes can also increase Gut permeability, resulting in a more pro-inflammatory environment, joint health challenges, poor blood sugar management and weight gain especially around the middle – see my recent post Modifying the Gut Microbiome to Influence Hormone Balance – Nutrition in Norfolk.

The food we eat has more effect than anything else on the balance of these tiny amazing microbes and we need to consider food sources, food preparation techniques, what foods will provide greater microbial support and this is not just relative to fermented foods  – this is an area of science that is rapidly evolving. The story is not just about oestrogen but all of the Endocrine system is intertwined and so our sex hormone balance is tied up with our insulin management and thyroid health etc .

Brain and mental health, cancers, inflammatory conditions, immune system health – are profoundly influenced by the Gut bacteria populations and this affects the functions of organs and systems – it’s a complex  communication system that we can influence with diet and lifestyle. For example insulin is a hormone as is thyroxine and these messenger compounds, in our system, are changed by the tiny microbial population in the Gut – we will explore many of these exciting facets of promoting our good health going all through our life and onto older age.

Sound bath therapist

In the afternoon from 2.15 – 3.45pm, Melissa will transport you into deep relaxation with her soothing sound bath – nurturing all you have been inspired with during the morning, to bring balance & vitality.

The Power of Sound Therapy

Melissa of ‘The Sound Sanctuary Norfolk’ —an experienced and professionally trained Integral Sound Healing practitioner—will guide you through a deeply restorative soundbath experience, overlooking the beautiful grounds of little Massingham Manor.  The session begins with gentle guided breathwork and a grounding meditation to settle the body and mind.  Followed by the soundbath.
Sound healing supports the nervous system, inviting the body into a deeply relaxed, parasympathetic state—our natural state for healing and balance. From this place of inner harmony, the body’s systems begin to recalibrate. This includes the digestive system, often described as the ‘second brain’ and the seat of our emotions, and the endocrine system,  which regulates our hormones.  By nourishing the nervous system, sound helps to optimise these systems—supporting hormone regulation, emotional balance, and deeper digestive ease.
The soundbath is a space to pause, receive, and reconnect—leaving you feeling grounded, balanced, and more in tune with your body’s natural rhythms. Suitable for those new to soundbaths as Melissa guides you gently through.

We will finish with a hormone health promoting cuppa and cake – yes a cake that fits the message of the day – to send you home feeling relaxed and supported with lots of knowledge to help you stay that way !
