I regularly see patients in the clinic with serious health complications from poor blood sugar management! Leg and feet amputations, numbed & painful feet, poor eye sight, leg ulcers and poor heart and circulatory health etc….
You can change this:
A pre-diabetes diagnosis gives a wonderful opportunity to change your diet so you never need to have a diabetes diagnosis.
And with a good plan and especially recognising why it is so important to change, plus a little persistence and good support, you can reverse a diabetes diagnosis. The golden time for reversing a diabetes diagnosis is within the first year, however whenever you start to make changes it will make a real difference to all areas of health and many people bring medications down or come off them – it’s a wonderful story of HOPE.
Why is it so important?
Regular uncontrolled blood sugar is like a scouring pad to arteries, which then triggers inflammation in the arteries and can increase artery permeability, allowing fluid into the surrounding area (oedema). It will influence raised blood pressure and challenge brain health and memory.
It also affects the competence of the immune system. When blood sugars are regularly high this interrupts the ability of immune cells to get rid of infections and creates a great challenge for wound healing. It lowers the competence of antibodies in the blood and the activity of natural killer cells.
Poor blood sugar management increases the risks of illnesses like cancer, hormone challenges, heart conditions etc

So what can you do? – ITS NOT DOOM & GLOOM

- Reduce the carbohydrates and when eating carbs. these should be as close to how Nature intended as possible. No more than 75gms a day and ideally less, I encourage people to aim for a maximum of 50gms daily.
If you eat a good protein and quality oils in each meal you will not be hungry - Ditch all the Ultra-processed foods with addictive additives – why should you be at the mercy of the food industry tricking you into buying more and more ultra-processed, purposefully addictive foods?
- Eat lots of good deep coloured plant foods to build a healthful ‘terrain’ with required nutrients to make you feel good.
In a few weeks you will enjoy ‘Real Food’ with real flavours and start to feel so much better
Comfort Food – what a trick that is!
We all like to feel comfort, however the term ‘Comfort Food’ is a trick invented by the food industry to keep you hooked on foods that cause ‘Dis-comfort’ in your body. Ultra processed, addictive flavoured foods are false comfort. Advertising on the TV in the evening, when you are tired and vulnerable, further perpetuates the addictive message.
Ditch the Junk and Over Carbs. – a Spring Clean for the body and mind …
